Vimeo Streameo conference

It was such a blast working on these fun opening titles directed and designed by the multi-talented Erica Gorochow for the Vimeo’s 2021 Streameo Conference. I loved the cool, minimal, retro vibe of the boards the moment I saw them.

I had the pleasure to animate the opening three second countdown, the tunnel sequence starting at 13 seconds, and the entire closing section beginning with the word ALSO through to the end.

The shots were as much fun to animate as I thought when I first saw them. Possibly the most challenging was the SLACK/AMAs/SWAG shot which I brute forced together over several sweaty days until I was hallucinating motion paths in the air around me.

Another interesting (but largely invisible) aspect of this job involved a pretty hefty expression rig that I made.

For the shot with the grid of names, we weren’t sure at the time of production who would be speaking at the conference, months later. Since Erica wanted the integrity of the grid layout she designed to be preserved no matter what names were used in the end, I was tasked with prepping the After Effects project so that the internal Vimeo motion team could quickly and easily enter in the correct names once they were finalized.

NOTE: This involved a lot of code. But it worked!

This is the credit grid with stand-in names. I used this to animate, but coded it so that the names could be changed without messing up the design or animation.

A still from the final result with correct names, photos and grid spacing. Whew!
